Where We Are

Deep in the Bourgogne countryside

En La Marre is in a quiet rural location on the estate of Château de Dracy, about halfway between Autun and Chalon-sur-Saône.

We’re 4km from the small country town of Couches, where you’ll find a bank, cash points, two supermarkets, a pharmacy and health centre, three restaurants, a newsagent/bar and an excellent bakery/patisserie.

We’re 3km from Dracy-les-Couches, a lively working wine village, with its picturesque chateau and small, friendly general store and bakery for your daily baguette and croissants.

The region’s wine has the appellation Couchois and the local vignerons have a permanent ‘open door’, so do feel free to call in and ask to sample their produce.

The land adjoining En la Marre is farmland, grazed by cattle, with wild flowers, birds and wildlife in abundance.

Château de Dracy

Originally a 13th century fortress for the Dukes of Burgundy, Château de Dracy was rebuilt in the early 18th century.

Today, the property is the private residence of the de Charette family, one of the region’s premier winegrowers.

To quote the Sunday Times Wine Club: ” For the last 110 years, the great Maison Albert Bichot has been working with this tiny estate to produce a first-class Burgundy.”
